About Hope and Thriving Community Organization (HTCO)

Hope and Thriving Community Organization (HTCO) is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of vulnerable and underserved populations across Afghanistan. HTCO focuses on advancing education, healthcare, and community development, particularly in Afghanistan’s most remote and underserved areas.

We operate through six core areas of intervention: Protection, Health and Nutrition, Water and Sanitation (WASH), Food Security, Shelter and Settlements, and Education in Emergencies. These areas are critical to addressing both immediate needs and building long-term community resilience.

Our work is designed to uplift entire communities—regardless of gender, ethnicity, or background. By ensuring that no Afghan is left behind, HTCO works to foster lasting social change and contribute to the sustainable development of Afghanistan.

HTCO ensuring that our efforts are rooted in local context, cultural sensitivity, and community engagement. Through these efforts, we aim to build empowered, resilient, and self-sustaining communities across the country.

Our Vision

HTCO envisions a resilient and inclusive Afghanistan where every individual—regardless of gender, ethnicity, or background—has the opportunity to thrive in safe, healthy, and empowered communities. We aspire to a nation where women, men, and youth actively participate in building a society rooted in dignity, equity, and opportunity. In this future, access to protection, quality healthcare and nutrition, clean water and sanitation, food security, safe shelter, and education—even in emergencies—is a guaranteed right for all, laying the foundation for long-term peace and sustainable development.

Our Mission

(HTCO) is committed to improving the lives of Afghanistan’s most vulnerable and underserved populations by delivering comprehensive, community-based support across multiple sectors. We work to ensure access to protection services that uphold human dignity; health and nutrition programs that reduce preventable illness; clean water and sanitation systems that support public health; food security initiatives that combat hunger and strengthen livelihoods; shelter and settlement solutions for those displaced or affected by crises; and emergency education opportunities that keep children, especially girls, learning in times of conflict and displacement. Through a localized and participatory approach, HTCO empowers Afghan communities to become resilient, self-reliant, and agents of their own development.
